The Guardians of the Cedars Party  - The Movement for Lebanese Nationalism issued the following communiqué:

The present conflict on the soil of Lebanon has for more than three decades taken various forms, and several parties have been involved in it, such that the nature of the conflict has become vague for observers and those concerned with Lebanese affairs, and even for the Lebanese themselves.

For the sake of clarification, we say that the essence of this conflict was, and still is to this day, a conflict between the truth and falsehood, and we see no end as long as falsehood has the upper hand and truth is missing or concealed or helpless. This is because Lebanon, according to those who know, is the country of the truth par excellence, indeed is a twin to the truth, which is its raison d'être just as water is for the fish, invigorated in a plenty of water and suffocated when the water dries. This explains the state of suffocation that this country is experiencing ever since it began drifting away from the truth and going astray.

We believe that the culture of perversity and deception that the political establishment engaged in over the past decades, and the enormous volume of lies that were pumped into people's minds, are what embroiled Lebanon in its manifold crises and contributed to complicate and exacerbate them in the manner we see today.

We do not say this only on account of the ongoing uproar over the international court looking into the assassination of Hariri and his companions. We say this also because of the political crimes that were committed on our soil from 1976 to this day, i.e. that horrifying bloody series that began with the assassination of Kamal Jumblatt, Salim Al-Laouzi, Riyad Taha, Hassan Khaled, Nazem Al-Qadiri, Sobhi Al-Saleh, Bashir Gemayel, René Mouawad and many others, all of which crimes that remain unanswered and sealed under red wax, and on to the assassination of Rafik Hariri, Bassel Fuleihan, Samir Kassir, George Haoui, Gebran Tueni, Pierre Gemayel, Walid Eido, Antoine Ghanem, Francois EL-Hajj, Wissam Eid and Samer Hanna, in addition to the living martyrs like Marwan Hamadeh, Elias Murr, and May Chidiac. What the honorable Lebanese are demanding is for the truth to be brought to light over all the above-mentioned crimes, regardless of the party or parties behind them, because to remain silent over the crimes never stops them and in fact aggravates them and turns Lebanon into a breeding ground for criminals escaping the sword of justice, and it keeps the Lebanese arena open to all kinds of crises and wars.

From the preceding, we deduce that the conflict in Lebanon will remain ablaze until the truth vanquishes falsehood, even if after a while. Until then, the builders will build in vain.

Lebanon, at your service
