The Guardians of the Cedars Party issued the following weekly communiqué:
The acknowledgment by the Speaker of Parliament that a crisis to the Lebanese crisis is linked to a resolution of the Saudi-Syrian dispute constitutes a glaring indictment against him and against the entire Lebanese political establishment. It uncovers a range of facts that are extremely dangerous, of which we mention the following:
1 – The make-or-break decision is not internal to Lebanon, and the conditions and counter-conditions that the domestic players put forth are merely a smokescreen, Lebanese on the surface but regional at the core, and they vary according to the instructions coming from abroad.
2 – The heart of the crisis therefore lies in the servility of local players to outsiders, which makes them puppets which the regional players prop up and move in tune with their own interests.
3 – And since the local players do not have the freedom of decision, then all initiatives and shuttle visits by Arab and international envoys to those players are futile and stillborn.
4 – Not only does this blind servility to outsiders at the expense of the Lebanese national interest stand counter to the simplest norms of free patriotic affiliation, it really belongs to the realm of high treason which is punishable by law.
Based on the preceding, waiting for deliverance to come from a political class that has sold itself, its conscience and its country to others, publicly and without shame, is similar to waiting for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.
What goodwill can come from a bunch placed by fate in a position of responsibility at a moment of abandonment? Since assuming that position, it has engaged at will in oppressing its own people and impoverishing and humiliating them, and it has enjoyed torturing its own country with unprecedented sadism.
What salvation can be expected from this bunch which has excelled at polluting everything in Lebanon, from politics to morals to the air, the water and the soil?
Therefore, the Lebanese have no choice left before them except to adjust to the vacuum and dispense with the government and the state as they have long done, while waiting for deliverance to come down from the heavens.
Lebanon, at your service
Abu Arz
