The Guardians of the Cedars Party issued the following weekly communiqué:

If the political powers in Lebanon, both in their loyalist wing and the opposition, are impotent at electing a President of the Republic, finding specific solutions to Lebanon’s piling problems, implementing international resolutions pertaining specifically to eliminating and disarming the independent security zones, controlling the borders with Syria to prevent the influx of weapons and terrorists into the country, reforming the state institutions, and putting an end to the sale of land to foreigners…etc.; If those powers are impotent at carrying out these things and reaching an understanding among them over a minimum needed to prevent a collapse of the Republic, why do they remain in their positions? Why don’t they recognize and acknowledge their failure and leave? What is the justification for their being in power in the first place? This is the question that people inside and outside Lebanon are asking and for which there is never an answer.

If Lebanon’s political problems are beyond this impotent and failed regime, what is it that prevents it in the least from addressing people’s social concerns and reducing their everyday life’s miseries? Why can’t they at least ensure the provision of basic services to the citizens such as water, electricity, medicine, in particular to the poor class? Unless, of course, the intent is to starve the people for the purpose of further taming and domesticating them.

And what about security? All the citizens of Lebanon have become potential victims. They leave home not knowing if they will return to it safely.

What about the worsening deficit, the rise in unemployment, and the continued emigration of young people? All of these facts point to a Lebanon which, sooner or later, will turn into a bankrupt republic in which a bunch of wealthy people rule over a few elderly and seniors.

We reiterate one more time that salvation is in the hands of the people. Only the people can have the final say as they are the source of all authority and decision-making. The Lebanese people must revolt against this Mafia environment and seek to evict the custodians of power as fast as they can and by all legitimate means. The closest thing to doing this is to boycott this State and declare civil disobedience.

Lebanon, at your service
