What is your opinion of the great leader Bashir Gemael?
Bashir , undoubtedly an extraordinary leader known for
his courageous resistance to the Palestinians, the Syrians and their allies.
In our opinion he committed 2 mistakes that proved costly to Lebanon and the
Lebanese resistance.
1-
when he refused to cooperate with the Israeli Safety of the Galilee campaign.
Had he cooperated, he would have saved Lebanon once and for all from all foreign
occupations.
2- When he decided to deploy the Lebanese Forces in the Shouf which led ultimately
to a military conflict which caused hundreds of the residents to die or flee
their homes. This conflict which the LF lost, widened the crack between the
Christian and Druze communities of the mountain - the symbol of the Lebanese
unity.
Do you consider your party an ally to General Aoun?
The GoC never formed alliances with individuals but
with authentic Lebanese Principals that are in line of our own. We allied
ourselves with general Aoun for 2 reasons:
1- He
was the first Prime Minister to defy the Syrian occupation and to declare
war on it.
2- He distanced himself from the sectarian line which the Lebanese Forces
trailed. Hence the LF slogan: "The Christian society above all considerations".
This slogan led to the distruction of the Christian society, and with it,
the Lebanese society as a whole.
If a full scale war was to explode between the resistance and the Syrian
occupiers (and their allies), would the GoC join the other resistance parties
to create a strong alliance?
Since the start of the Arab war against Lebenon,
the GoC has participated in all the national fighting fronts against the Palestinians,
the Syrians, the Iranians and their allies along side the Lebanese militia
forces. In the event of a military alliance forming, it is only logical that
the GoC would actively
participate in the armed struggle. But, this time around,
a firm undertaking should be made on three very important points by all parties.
1- Never
to get drawn into any internal fighting whatever the reasons might be.
2- Refuse any notions of any religious-sectarian conflicts between the Lebanese.
3- Adopt a zero tolerance policy toward immoral activities that have tarnished
the resistance reputation in the past. (corruption, theft, religious killing,
etc. )
